Sneaker Trends for Summer 2018

Winter has come and gone, and it’s finally starting to heat up again. Right in time for the warmer seasons, we give our thoughts on the latest sneaker trends for Summer 2018 for the Southern Hemisphere.

This year in particular, brands are going out of their way to give consumers options. From the bright and colourful tech sneaker to the refined classic: the ‘white sneaker’.

Here are our sneaker picks to keep you cool, both literally and figuratively, for Summer 2018:

Bright, Bold Colours

Brands have really embraced bright, bold colours in designing their sneakers this year.

What this means is that you won't look out of place rocking some fluorescent yellow or bright alarm-bell red sneakers. It's sunny outside after all, so don't be afraid to show your personality with some colourful sneakers this Summer.

Here are some colourful sneakers that the PUSHAS Staff have really loved this year.

Nike React Element 87 x Undercover - Various Colourways

The Nike’s React Element 87 has undeniably been one of the best silhouettes to be released in 2018.

The see-through TPU upper and cored-out React foam midsole gives the sneaker a sleek, futuristic look that would look good during anytime of the year. But Nike’s collaboration with legendary Japanese brand Undercover – with its medley of bold colours – is perfect for walking around in the sun.

Nike Air Presto Mid x Acronym - Various Colourways

Nike has done it again with its third Presto release with Acronym.

The technical sneaker features a neoprene upper in various mix’n’match colourways which will keep everyone’s feet cool and comfy. What PUSHAS loves about this release is the brighter colour palette.

Adidas x Dragon Ball Z ‘Goku’

The highly anticipated Dragon Ball Z ‘Goku’ sneaker finally arrived earlier this year.

The Dragon Ball Z collaboration dresses up the ZX 500 RM silhouette with the iconic orange and blue colourway. Much like how Goku has survived the heat of a thousand suns, these sneakers will do just fine in handling the heat.

The ‘White Sneaker’

While there’s nothing wrong with colour, brands like Adidas, Converse and Nike Converse have continued to revolutionise the 'White Sneaker'.

Here are some white sneakers that the PUSHAS Staff has really loved this year.

Yeezy BOOST 350 V2 ‘Cream White’

I know, I know, the hype around YEEZYs aren’t what they used to be since Kanye actually kept his word of making his sneakers available for everyone. But there’s no denying that the slim silhouette of the 350V2’s (and in a crisp white colour-way) looks clean.

With BOOST technology on your feet as well, you’ll not only be looking clean but you’ll also be oh so comfortable wherever you are.

Nike Air Max 97 ‘Cobblestone’

Nike has been killing the sneaker game this year with the React Element 87s (mentioned above) and the ‘Off-White’ Collaboration.

Alongside these sneakers, the PUSHAS staff has also really enjoyed wearing the Air Max 97 which has continued to gain traction this year as a staple sneaker. In mentioning ‘Off-White’, the ‘Cobblestone’ colourway of the Air Max 97 is definitely not a traditional ‘White Sneaker’ but it is just as easy to style.

These sneakers can work with a variety of summer looks – a bomber jacket and chino shorts, or even with a tee-shirt and wider trouser which will translate just as well.

Converse x COMME de GARCONS PLAY Low

One of our favourite go-to summer sneakers has to be the COMME des GARCONS Play Converse Low.

The light beige colour way makes it perfect for summer, and the low top silhouette also keeps it casual and relaxed. What makes this sneaker pop of course, is the iconic CDG Heart which adds a bit of colour to the traditional canvas white sneaker.
